ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has ordered to remove Chairman Evacuee Trust Board Property (ETPB) Siddique-ul-Farooq from his post.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar was hearing Katas Raj Suo motu case in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The court ordered for appointing a new chairman of the Trust according to rules and regulations.
Later, talking to newsmen outside the Supreme Court building, Siddique-ul-Farooq said he will file a review petition against the court verdict.
Meanwhile, a five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar today adjourned till tomorrow hearing of the case pertaining to interpretation of Article 62 (1) (f) of the constitution.
During the proceedings on Wednesday, the court gave the counsel representing former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a week time to prepare his arguments for the case which focuses on ascertaining the period of disqualification of a member of parliament.
Amicus Curiae Munir Malik, while presenting his arguments, stated that articles 62 and 63 of the constitution should be read in a manner that fundamental rights are not affected.
He said lifelong disqualification is a violation of basic human rights.
