Dr. Habn ib ur Rehma said that since Kashmiri Diaspora was already serving the Kashmir cause, more efforts need to be channelized and made more vibrant to draw international attention to the massive human-rights violations in the IOK. The Vice Chancellor called upon the peace and human rights loving nations the world over to perform their due global obligations to draw international attention to the massive human rights’ violations in the bleeding occupied Kashmir valley at the hands of the Indian occupational forces. The ugly situation of human rights in the occupied valley was resulting in the making of a major humanitarian crisis affecting the entire population of the ill-fated land.
The VC Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman continued that it is enjoined upon the world organizations and individuals to help resolve the already much-delayed Kashmir conflict without further loss of time.
“The Kashmir cause at this juncture needs maximum due projection. The grave human right violations in IOK must be projected to draw world attentionâ€, he said and added that once international conscience moves to be awakened, India will have to address the problem by stopping the atrocities and undertaking negotiations, he observed.
Applauding the role of the members of the UK and European parliaments and representatives of Kashmiri Diaspora in projecting the Kashmir cause, Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman said that we do acknowledge the contributions of Raja Najabat Hussain being Kashmiri and as Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Movement for Self Determination, Europe. “We are indebted to the UK and European Parliamentarians for continuously supporting the Kashmir cause; showing grave concerns for the atrocities committed against the Kashmiris and extending valuable support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their just struggle for freedomâ€, he added.
The Vice Chancellor underlined that Pakistani civil society, besdes people of the AJK and youth in particular were actively engaged in highlighting the Kashmiris struggle for freedom drawing the world attention to the barbarity of the occupying Indian security forces, the indifference and apathy of the puppet government of Indian occupied Kashmir, he added.
The Vice Chancellor said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir were struggling for 70 years now for their freedom from illegal Indian occupation. Their movement for the right of self determination is never ending and they are determined to keep on struggling till their fundamental right is achieved. They were subjected to unprecedented sufferings at the hands of Indian occupant forces; loss of over hundred thousand lives, illegal abductions, loss of businesses and worst kind of human rights violations. Dr. Habib ur Rehman said that the martyrdom of Burhan Muzaffar Wani has assumed the shape of a popular uprising that is growing by the day and is still progressing, likely to grow further and continue till the Kashmiris granted the right of self determination. The Kashmiris have been sacrificing their lives on daily basis. Their struggle, the longest in the annals of the UN, seems to have entered into a new phase. It is a state-wide uprising; indigenous, driven principally by the young generation, focused on achieving its objective, no matter what may come and what it takes. Indian government has started another reign of terror against the hapless Kashmiris, this time far more vicious and brutal than ever before.
Considering their moral obligation, human right caring, peace loving nations and people have been condemning serious human right violations in the IOK. People of IOK have been suffering badly in every aspect and respect, even education of children not spared. On account of blockages and curfews, children cannot go schools; wishes and dreams of parents to educating their children and right of getting education is neither toned nor heeded. Kashmiris youth have launched unprecedented struggle for their freedom from Indian illegal occupation of their motherland, they need our moral and political support.
Dr. Habib ur Rehman underlined that the comparison of the AJK with the IOK clearly indicates that people in the AJK are enjoying freedom while the people in the IOK are suffering badly at the hands of Indian occupant forces; struggling for freedom and putting all at stake for the cause. That is why people in the IOK hoists flag of Pakistan, chant slogans of split India/ independence movement in 1940s and desire for the all Jammu and Kashmir accession to Pakistan.
They are as clear as the day and as determined and firm as the Muslims of the subcontinent then. In fact, the Kashmir conflict has taken the people and progress of both India and Pakistan hostage and the burden growing day by day. Some analysts believe that peace in Afghanistan, if at all, would also come through Kashmir. Therefore, early solution of the Kashmir conflict is not only in the interest of the people of the subcontinent but also inevitable for peace of south Asia and the world at large.
