ZHOB: Eid shopping has reached its peak as Eid-ul-Adha preparations are in finishing touches. The people both from urban and rural areas of Zhob have thronged the city markets to buy clothes, shoes, bangles, henna, cosmetics and other items for the Eid. Heavy rush can be witnessed on Market Road, Kandahari bazaar, Jail Road, Pani Taqseem and Tehsil Road markets, where shopkeepers have set up stalls of various items. Young people are visiting markets to buy clothes and other accessories for the festive. However, some people complained that due to price hike they were unable to purchase items of their choice.
The shoppers said that road side stalls were a blessing for the poor as they were less concerned about fashion and more about price. Some shops are offering sale in a bid to sell their old stuff before Eid. To highlight this mood of festivity, all of the major shopping areas are seen decorated with beautiful lights. However, not everyone seemed to be much excited. A number of the customers complained of high prices, which kept them away from the markets.
“Every year the prices keep skyrocketing and it becomes challenging for buyers to shop for Eid,” said a shopper on Thana Road.
On the other hand, the animal trade is also in full swing. A large number of animals are up for sale in the biggest cattle market near Tablighi mosque on Quetta Road. The trend of the joint sacrifices is gaining momentum as a majority of people is not able to sacrifice animals individually to commemorate Hazrat Ibrahim’s decision for Allah’s pleasure. The district administration had directed the police and Levies force to ensure strict vigilance on all the exit points to control cattle smuggling.
