Islamabad: Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said CPEC is PTI government top priority and protecting Chinese citizens affiliated with this project is vital point of our priorities.
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said Pakistan is most trusted friend and China attaches much importance to Pakistan in its foreign policy. Pakistan is a big economy and emerging market of future. The international community including China and US should cooperate with new Pakistani government because Pakistan has rendered unprecedented sacrifices in war on terror.
The visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited foreign office on Saturday. Foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi welcomed him therein. One on one meeting took place between the two foreign ministers. Later delegation level talks were held between the two countries for more than two hours. Pakistan delegation was led by foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Chinese delegation was led by Foreign Minister Wang Yi
Later while addressing the joint press conference ,Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said CPEC is top priority of PTI led government which is vital for socio economic development of Pakistan. Relations with China are very crucial for our foreign policy. Several important matters came under discussion in meeting with Chinese foreign minister. Matters related to poverty alleviation and generation of employment opportunities were also discussed.
He said Pakistan has played a vital role in war on terror. China has lauded Pakistan sacrifices in war against terrorism.
Qureshi said China has urged international community that Pakistan sacrifices against terrorism should be appreciated.
He held Pakistan would not allow its soil to be used for terrorism because Pakistan has played crucial role in war on terror.
He underlined that CPEC is becoming catalyst for fast-paced development. This project is top priority of new government. The security of Chinese citizens will be ensured.
He remarked “we are grateful to China for its full fledged support on international forums. Pakistan will continue to work alongside China on international plat forums. We reiterate our resolve to move forward along side China. It is the most beautiful thing that there are no reservations any where between Pakistan and China.
Replying to a question Qureshi said talks have been held on subsidies in connection with exports with China. Development of agriculture sector is must for the sake of development of industrial sector. Pakistan is an agriculture country. We want to take advantage of experiences of China for development of agriculture sector.
To a question he said that during meeting with US secretary of state Mike Pompeo matters related to regional challenges, defence cooperation and regional peace were discussed.
Chinese foreign minister said meeting with Shah Mehmood Qureshi remained positive. This visit is aimed at bolstering contacts with new government.
He went on to say “ Pakistan is most trusted friend of China and we want to steer Pakistan out of the problems being faced by it. We want to continue full fledged cooperation in every sector alongside Pakistan. We want to further reinforce strategic relations with Pakistan. China attaches much importance to Pakistan in its foreign policy. We will extend full cooperation for poverty alleviation and development and will complete all ongoing projects. Chinese cooperation is aimed at bringing improvement in education, agriculture and other sectors.
Chinese foreign minister extended invitation to PM Imran Khan for visiting China in November.
On the other side according to Foreign Office spokesperson Chinese foreign minister said that they want to invite PM Imran Khan as guest of honor in the international expo in China.
