LONDON: Deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was better but was not completely out of danger, Express News reported.
Speaking to the media, former premier expressed that it would have been better had he reached London a little earlier to see his wife conscious. He further requested prayers for his wife.
On June 14, Nawaz and daughter Maryam left for London after being granted a brief exemption from the ongoing corruption trial involving members of the Sharif family.
While the father and daughter were en route to the British capital, Begum Kulsoom suffered a cardiac arrest and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and placed on a ventilator.
“Ami had a sudden cardiac arrest this morning when we were on the flight and (has been) on the ventilator since,” Maryam had wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Begum Kulsoom had been undergoing treatment for cancer in a London hospital and had multiple surgeries while undergoing treatment.
