Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar has summoned the session of National Assembly on October 17 on the requisition of Opposition parties.
The Speaker has convened the Session at 11:00 am on October 17.
Earlier, following the arrest of Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Ashiana Housing Society Scam, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) had submitted a requisition bearing signatures of 90 Members of NA to convene a Session.
Against the back drop of PML-N President’s arrest, a delegation of MNAs from Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazal Ur Rehman (JUI-F), Jamat-i-Islami (JI) and PML-N, headed by former Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq held a meeting with Speaker National Assembly at his residence to discuss the arrest of Opposition Leader.
During their meeting with Speaker NA, the delegation members had requested the speaker NA to summon Lower House besides issuing orders for safety and security of Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif.
Subsequently Speaker Asad Qaisar had assured the MNAs to convene a session of NA within 14 days and issuance of orders for security of Shehbaz Sharif.
