MIRPUR (AJK): Initial work for the establishment of a World-class mega Special Economic Zone in Mirpur, approved under the gigantic CPEC project, has been started with immediate effect, official sources said.
Site for the construction of Mirpur Special Economic Zone under CPEC has already been selected by the experts during their recent frequent visits to this world fame city of Kashmiri expatriates.
“Mirpur would have the giant 9th Special Economic Zone (SEZ), over an area of 9500 kanals of land under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, approved under the gigantic CPEC projects”, Commissioner Mirpur division Muhammad Tayyeb told this Correspondent here on Monday when contacted.
Elaborating the steps for emergence of the special economic zone, one of the nine Special Economic Zones being established under the CPEC project in various parts of Pakistan and AJK, the Commissioner revealed that the AJK government has released over Rs. 183 million under the last fiscal year 2017-18 for the construction of the first phase of the mega Special Economic Zone.
“More funds have been allocated in the new fiscal year budget for the project”, he underlined.
He continued that preliminary work for construction of the world-class 9th Special Economic zone has so far been started. He said that the SEZ would have the required latest infra structure and facilities in line with the needs of the modern age.
Muhammad Tayyeb said that concerned authorities have been directed by the government to ensure the timely completion of the project.
