Islamabad: (Parliament Times) National University of Sciences & Technology organised a two-week-long Summer School Pre-university Programme for high school students (age: 16 years and above). As many as 60 students from various parts of Pakistan, including Karachi, Gujranwala, Daharki, Burewala, Multan, Hassan Abdal, Wah Cantt, Peshawar, Sialkot, Vehari and Rawalpindi participated in the programme.
During the course of the programme, the participants attended activity-centric courses and were introduced to basics of Engineering, Biosciences, Management Sciences, Architecture and Arts & Design. The participants also socialised with current students at the university during activities arranged by NUST student clubs. During their stay, the students engaged in sports, including badminton, cricket, basketball, volleyball and futsal. Participants also enjoyed recreational activities like stand-up comedy, music and drama events arranged by NUST Dramatics Club, as well as an excursion trip to Khanpur dam.
The whole experience was designed to invoke interest of the students in the disciplines that NUST offers at the state-of- the-art facilities and serene surroundings, so that they can make informed decisions about their future.
A simple and graceful ceremony held at School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences (SEECS) seminar hall, in which Dr. Asif Raza, Pro-Rector Academics gave away certificates to the participants of the Summer School. Feedback provided by the participants was extremely positive and encouraging.
