Islamabad : Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbas stated that development of the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) is government’s top priority.
“First time in the history of the country our government took serious steps to solve the problems of FATA” the prime minister said on Wednesday while talking to a delegation of PML-N hailing from FATA.
Those who called on the prime minister included president, vice presidents and general secretaries from PML-N FATA chapter.
The delegation met with PM under the leadership of the State Minister for the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Ghalib Khan.
PM during an interaction with political figures of FATA said that the process of FATA reforms has been started which will be translated into realty as per the aspirations of FATA people.
Talking about FATA merger, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the government is of the view that process of FATA merger and reforms should be completed step by step so that issues linked to this process could be solved side by side.
He said that it is necessary to bring the people of FATA into mainstream that the process of development should be promoted there.
“Development of FATA is the government’s priority and we want to bring Fata at par with other federating units. Equal treatment of Fata residents in all social sectors including education, health, jobs shall be ensured,” stated the prime minister.
At the end of the meeting the delegation thanked PM Abbasi for taking practical steps to repeal FCR in tribal areas and for initiation of the process of FATA reforms.
