Islamabad: (Parliament Times) The Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT & ITES (P@SHA) organized its 14th annual ICT Awards Ceremony during a grand gala dinner on October 27, 2017 at Serena Hotel Islamabad. The annual event brings together the stars of Pakistan’s technology sector on a common platform to celebrate innovation and excellence. Their aim is to recognize the efforts of outstanding achievers that have been making waves both locally and internationally.
Entries for the P@SHA ICT Awards were received from all over the country and judging was held in all three major cities of Pakistan to evaluate the applicants and their products. Companies and individuals were asked to pitch their products in front of a panel of esteemed industry experts who came up with the list of winners and runners up. The winners from the Product categories get a chance to represent Pakistan and benchmark their products against those from 17 countries at the APICTA (Asia Pacific ICT Alliance) Awards 2017 that are being held in Bangladesh in December this year.
NUST College of EME has history of winning consecutive P@SHA and APICTA awards since 2012 including gold awards in tertiary student category for consecutive 3 years.
This year college won 4 awards in different categories. “NeurosticPvtLtd”, a start up by NUST graduate Mr. AsadRaza, won gold award in startup category. An IoT based product “Smart Health Monitoring of the Elderly using Smart Sensors” made by final year students, Mr. Saad Bin Waheed and Mr. MusabRaza” won Silver award in Tertiary student category. In R&D category, both awards were claimed by CEME, NUST. “OphthaHelp”, smart phone based portable device for real time acquisition and analysis of retinareceived silver award in R&D. This product is made under supervision of Dr. Muhammad Usman Akram, Dr. SajidGul Khawaja and Dr. Shoab Ahmed Khan. Another application titled “IntelliHealth” made by two PhD graduates, Dr. Saba Bashir and Dr. Farhan Khan under supervision of Dr. Usman Qamar won Gold award in R&D.
