Islamabad: (Parliament Times) 14th Conference Committee meeting of Overseas Pakistanis (OPs) Convention 2017 was held, to review the operational and strategic progress of the OPs Convention 2017. The Chairman Board of Governors (BoG), Barrister Amjad Malik chaired the meeting and welcomed the members.
Additional Foreign Secretary Shah Jamal, MD OPF Habib ur Rehman Gillani, Executive Director Welfare and Services, Director General Education, Research and Training, and other senior officials attended. The Convention will be held in the last week of December 2017 for two days. The Committee was informed that around 400 overseas delegates, members of Overseas Pakistanis Advisory Committee and 200 local participants which will include government and other relevant stakeholders will be invited to make policy recommendations through interactive thematic sessions.
The Chairman BoG was given a detailed briefing about the progress made till date.He directed to speed up actions/progress to make this historic event successful. It was agreed that the committee will meet on monthly intervals, the next committee meeting will be held on 27 September 2017.
