Elders say what happens inside the walls of a house, should stay there. Women endure the pain of violence since a long time from birth to death. They face multiple abuses be in physically or mentally, sometimes it’s from father, brother, husband or any stranger. Women have always been looked down in the society because they are considered weak in comparison to men. They face multiple type of issues such as gender discrimination and violence. The most common type of violence is domestic violence. The word domestic violence is considered as a taboo in society. It is something women have faced from a long time. Domestic violence is done in so many different way such as honour killing, rape, as if attacks, Stove burning, sexual harassment, early marriages, martial rape, mental torture. The ratio of these cases is increasing day by day because of the existing cultural practices and male dominant society. In Pakistan women face discrimination from home to work place. In Pakistan, approximately 70-90% women are a subject to domestic violence. We can’t stop domestic violence but we can take some measure to reduce it’s impact in the society by giving education about women and men rights, tell people how to take care of each other’s rights. By promoting gender equality, by showing our younger generations that women are equal to men and they should not to kept at home. By encouraging people to show love and affection towards each other. Government can help by setting up helplines for women suffering from domestic violence and set up strict regulations and punishment for the abuser, and also by setting up shelter for people who want to escape from the violence!
