Balochistan is rich in mineral resources but is managed poorly. Balochistan is the richest and largest province of Pakistan in terms of land. It has abundant mineral resources , vast coastal area and enjoys a important strategic location as well. It shares borders with Iran, Afghanistan and provides the shortest sea route via stratit of hormuz . Sui is the first place where gas was discovered in 1950 wherease Balochistan consumes only 3.5 % only for Quetta and Qalat division. The rest of areas are unknown to the gas resources. But is very sad to say that it has been governed poorly. The people of Balochistan are deprived of educational facilities, economic opportunities, social developments and agricultural equipment. Despite its mineral resources, The local people are being ignored to provide job opportunities in the mega projects of Sandak , Reckodek and Gawader port authority. Which has triggered much angers among the people. On the other hand, infrastructural disconnectivity has caused economic problems also. Similarly, agricultural sector has been ignored the federal authorities. In this age of digital world, the people of Balochistan have no internet facilities so one can clearly imagine how Balochistan is poorly governed. So, it is high time to revisit policies towards Balochistan’s socio- economic development and bring them into national fold in true spirit.
