NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram has said universal and affordable access to COVID-19 vaccine is essential to defeat the virus.
Munir Akram, who is also President of UN Economic and Social Council in his address to the closing segment in New York urged the countries to build convergence to confront major tasks ahead.
He said developing countries will need over four trillion dollars to recover from teh tripple crisis.
Munir Akram urged the international community to combat rising poverty and hunger through measures that include social protection and relief programmes.
He also stressed the need to mobilize the political will to address structural and systematic barriers to equitable growth and development.
