ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said the media is enjoying complete freedom in dissemination of news.
In an interview with Voice of America, he said the journalists fraternity and media houses are very strong in Pakistan.
Fawad Chaudhry said the government is clearing the outstanding bills payable in terms of advertisements and hoped to continue this exercise in order to provide relief to media houses.
Commenting on scrutiny of media personnel, Chaudhry Fawad said the present government has asked the quarters concerned to launch a mechanism for identifying the elements holding fake press cards.
To a question about social media, he said the government is establishing close connection with Facebook, twitter and YouTube, to combat fake account holders and put a check on such persons who are using social media for dissemination of misleading news.
