International Nurses Day is observed annually on May 12th, the same day that Florence Nightingale, the woman credited with founding modern nursing, was born on May 12, 1820.The contemporary nursing profession, which consists of a systematic and structured approach to healing the sick, was founded by the British nurse, statistician, and social reformer Florence Nightingale.She became well-known as a nurse manager and instructor during the Crimean War, solidifying her position as a cornerstone of modern nursing. She became well-known for her nursing skills before rising to prominence in Victorian culture. International Nurses Day is an international event that honors and recognizes the bravery and dedication of nurses around the globe. It’s a day to honor healthcare workers for their dedication and hard work. They have earned the title of “the most underappreciated workforce in the world” because of their hard shifts and long hours spent tending to everyone, from the ill to the elderly and mentally ill.Throughout history, nurses have been integral to the rehabilitation and well-being of individuals worldwide. But they are hardly accorded the respect they deserve.As a result, this day is set aside to pay them the honor they deserve. As per the pandemic scenario, the significance of International Nurses Day has surged to an unprecedented level.Nurses play an important role within the healthcare system in hospitals, giving continuous care to patients. It’s undeniable that nursing is the most widespread healthcare profession globally. Undoubtedly, nurses have deep knowledge of delivering the best health care services. Nurses have proven to be very resilient and adaptable in the face of unprecedented challenges. Nurses played a pivotal role in the COVID-19 pandemic by delivering critical medical care, delivering vaccines, and providing much-needed emotional support during these difficult times. International Nurses Day honors nurses’ priceless contributions to society and emphasizes their critical role in influencing the future of healthcare.This day serves as a global celebration of nurses, honoring their commitment, bravery, and dedication. It highlights how crucial it is to treat nurses with the same dignity and appreciation around the globe for their unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality care and enhancing patient outcomes.When it comes to patient care, nurses have a holy duty. Their contributions should be valued and acknowledged by society.The perception of the nursing profession is steadily changing for the better in society. The best choice I’ve ever made is to become a nurse , which was also my baba’s big dream. Whether you work as a nurse in a community, clinical setting, educational or research setting, or administration, nursing is hard and demanding.However, being a nurse is also a joyful, human-centered, and driven career. Being a nursing student, I am thrilled to join in celebrating International Nurses Day today, May 12th. It’s a special occasion to recognize and honor the incredible contributions of nurses worldwide.Let us honor the steadfast commitment, empathy, and knowledge of nurses on this day, who serve as the foundation of the medical community. Working nonstop to save lives,promote health, and improve the standard of care overall, they are the real heroes. It is crucial to remember the contributions made by individuals who paved the way for nursing to develop into what it is today. Florence Nightingale is a role model for all of us because of her bravery in leading the care of injured soldiers, her discernment in realizing the importance of high nursing standards, and her meticulous record-keeping of patient outcomes that demonstrated the efficacy of the interventions she designed and carried out.
