Islamabad/ MIRPUR (AJK) (Parliament Times) : President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry said that the government would continue to encourage labourers/workers besides maintaining their self-respect, dignity and honour.
The president said this his message issued on the eve of International labour Day.”May 1st is celebrated worldwide to remember the struggle and sacrifices of those who fought and laid down their lives for the rights and better future of workers”,
Barrister Chaudhry said, adding that this day also highlights the significance of workers and their role in the socioeconomic development of the nations.
Referring to the workers’ fundamental rights in Islam, he said, “Our religion emphasizes on the principles of social justice and respect for people’s rights”.He also paid homage to the working class for its significant contribution to the country’s economic prosperity, and development of the country.
Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said that the Chicago workers’ movement in 1886 played an important role to raise awareness amongst the working class besides seeking a better future, better wages and other privileges .”On this day we must strengthen our resolve to work hard for national development”, the message said.
