“Will the UN heed the call and prioritize peace and justice in Kashmir ? ” Raja Muzaffar

MIRPUR ( AJK),  (Parliament Times) : US-based veteran Kashmiri leader Raja Muzaffar, Acting Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF – YasinMalik), has made a passionate appeal to the United Nations Secretary-General and Member States to address the ongoing conflict in Kashmir.

In a statement, reaching and released to the media here on Friday, Muzaffar highlighted the decades-long struggle of the Jammu Kashmir state people for self-determination and independence, and the human rights violations they have suffered under occupation. He emphasized that the Kashmir issue was an unfinished agenda and urged the UN to recognize and support the right to freedom of the Kashmiri people through granting them their birth right of self determination to determine their destiny, he added.

Muzaffar called on the UN to facilitate a peaceful and inclusive political process to determine the future of the internationally-acknowledged disputed Jammu Kashmir state and address the growing tensions in the region. He rejected any solution that perpetuates the status quo or continues the Indian forced and unlawful occupation of Jammu Kashmir state furthermore.

Muzaffar asserted that Kashmiris voice for freedom was a crucial reminder of the urgent need for international attention and action to resolve this long-standing conflict without further delay.

It may be added that the JKLF (Y) leader’s appeal comes ahead of the 2024 UN General Assembly session in September, this year. where he hopes to see the Kashmir issue included in the agenda, the message concluded.
