Nowshera, (PR) : Belgian Deputy Head of Mission (DHM) Stef Commers, accompanied by his wife, Jeanne Frechede, embarked on a cultural journey through the heart of Pashtun traditions during their visit to Nowshera district. Hosted by Arsalan Khattak, the esteemed guests were welcomed with warmth and hospitality, commencing their exploration from the quaint setting of Akora Khattak.
The day unfolded with a vibrant brunch, where the nuances of Pashtun hospitality were shared in the traditional setting of a hujra. Mr. Khattak graciously introduced the concept and significance of the hujra in Pashtun culture, providing a firsthand glimpse into the rich tapestry of traditions that define the region.
Continuing their cultural odyssey, the distinguished visitors paid homage to the legacy of Khushal Khan Khattak at the memorial library, where they participated in a tree planting ceremony symbolizing growth and solidarity between nations. A solemn moment followed at the tomb of Khushal Khan Khattak, underscoring the enduring reverence for the iconic poet and warrior.
Venturing further into the spiritual fabric of the region, DHM Commers and Mrs. Frechede visited the revered Sufi shrine of Kaka Sahib, honoring the spiritual heritage that resonates deeply within the Pashtun ethos. Their gesture of laying a chaddar symbolized respect and reverence for the Sufi saint.
The day culminated in a gracious reception at Al Jameel House, where Mian Babar Shah extended the timeless tradition of high tea, epitomizing the fusion of cultural exchange and camaraderie.
