Wah Cantt, (Parliament Times) : Wah Cantonment executive officer Ms. Maria Jabeen Khan has urged the defaulters who illegally converted their residential properties into commercial ones with sanction and approval to regularize their properties without any further delay or face action.

She said that in an operation against illegal commercial activities and defaulters of the commercialization fee, the Wah Cantonment Board (WCB) enforcement team sealed scores of residential properties utilized for commercial purposes and issued notices to the leaseholders.

She said that under Cantonment Act 1924 Section 185 and 256, the owners would be notified to cease and refrain from any such business activities in these residential category edifices. She disclosed that as many as 423 residential premises are identified that are illegally utilized for commercial purposes evading taxes and loss to national kitty. The sources said that 203 premises were identified in Lalarukh only while 220 other premises were identified in Gullistan Colony, 9-F market, Officer Colony, Liaq Ali Chowk, 15-G market, and Anwar Chowk. She added that these premises leased for residential purposes were being used as private enterprises such as beauty parlors, hair salons, shops, clinics, display centers, medical labs, cafes, mobile shops, sanitary shops, academies, and other commercial activities. informed media that residential properties are being illegally used for commercial purposes including schools, colleges, academies, and shops. Markets, hospitals, and beauty parlors are established. She said that these unauthorized commercial buildings had been constructed without the necessary approvals and No Objection Certificate (NOC), in contravention of the Cantt Board Building and Zoning Regulations.
