Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : The 26th senate meeting of the University of Poonch Rawalakot was held here with President Azad Kashmir and Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry in the chair.

The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor University of Poonch Professor Dr. Zikria Zakir, former VC University of Kotli Professor Dr. Ghulam Ghos, former VC University of Home Economics Lahore Professor Dr. Kanwal Amin, Professor Retired Dr. Azhra Latif, Representative Higher Education Commission Engineer Muhammad Raza Chauhan and others.On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Zakaria Zakir gave a detailed briefing to the senate members regarding the ongoing development projects and curricular activities in the University.Dr. Zakir also briefed the President regarding the construction work of Chhota Gala Campus of the University
being built at a cost of 3.60 billion rupees. Speaking on the occasion, the President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry directed the administration of Jamia Poonch to speed up the construction work of the Chota Gala Campus so that this project can be completed as soon as possible.Barrister Chaudhry, while stressing the need for enhancing standard and quality of education, said, ” I want to see the University of Poonch among top ranking universities of the world like Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard”.He said that the development of any society or a nation was inescapably linked to education. He said that quality education was key to sustainable development and growth. He said that all the universities should take effective measures to improve the quality of education. Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry also assured the VC Poonch university of his all possible cooperation and support to bring improvement in the education system.
