Drugs are making our youth useless same like termites make wood useless. Drugs are becoming a scourge in our society, which is slowly taking over the body and mind of the youngsters and making the young generation useless. Drugs trafficking in Pakistan is dangerous for the youth, because the addiction of our young generation to drugs is the destruction of Pakistan’s future. The biggest reason for the excess of drugs in Pakistan is the arrival of Afghan people to Pakistan after US invasion in 2001. Mostly young people are more adducted to drugs in between the age of 15 to 30 years. Youngsters addicted to drugs due to several reasons: unemployment, bad company, bad environment, study load, depression, abuse, ignorance all can be the reason of taking drugs. We have to understand that what is the main reason for drug abuse in Pakistan? Why young people take drugs most of the time? What are the reasons in our society that people are turning toward drugs? In 1987 the United Nations General Assembly decided to observe 26 June as the International day against drugs abuse. According to a survey in Pakistan regarding drugs, it is estimated that about 7 million people are drug users in Pakistan. Drug users include students, beggars, employers, general duty servants. Pakistan is a country which has faced many difficulties. To escape from all those problems people are using drugs. The main issue people facing now a days in Pakistan is unemployment. Due to unemployment, people are facing mental issues which leads towards depression and suicides. That’s why most unemployed people are using drugs to escape from depression. Sindh government bans vaping and sheesha in public places. The biggest reason for the presence of drugs in Pakistan is the shared border with Afghanistan. Afghanistan is an unstabilized country and 90 percent of the drugs are produced by Afghanistan, the demand for drugs are also increasing in Pakistan and it looks like a benefit for Afghanistan. There has been instability in Afghanistan for a long time, Afghanistan wants to control it through drugs production because Afghanistan is producing the maximum amount of opium drug, which is a raw material for heroin. Secondly, Opium is expensive compared to other crops, that’s why Afghanistan produces more of it. So that through this he can control his poverty and other issues. The reason for excessive purchase of drugs in Pakistan is unemployment and instability in the region. Due to high demand from Pakistan, Afghanistan is importing drugs to Pakistan, which is the destruction of Pakistan’s future. Another personal statement regarding this issue is our distance from our religion, that’s why people have lost the sense of right and wrongEthical and moral values are decreasing among people. The issue in our Pakistani society, where we live is that parents do not focus on their children, how they talk how they behave because sometimes, our children are mentally disturbed due to several reasons, so when we don’t focus on them they may become addicted to drugs. Along with this, westernization and interest in exploring new things is also becoming cause of drugs addiction among the young generation. Apart from this, internet is highlighting all this in a very clear way. According to researchers, the influence of drugs consumption is increasing among university students after seeing the use of drugs in different movies. By seeing all these things, interest of people increase in drugs. Drugs are destroying Pakistan’s economy the most. People having drugs face issues related to health mostly mental issues are increasing in Pakistan. Most of the people’s money is being spent on health, which has deteriorated due to drugs. Drugs affect the kidney, liver and heart. Drug addicts are also becoming cause of crimes. These addicts are often involved in illegal activities which are a threat to the security of Pakistan. The biggest scary thing for Pakistan is that its own Pakistanis who are drug addicts are becoming a threat for Pakistan. A drug addicts want drugs and can do anything, for that and that doing is an danger. This rapid influx of drugs in to Pakistan is promoting Pakistan’s bad image across the world. Tourists or visitors do not prefer to come to Pakistan due to security issues. For tourists, Pakistan is a dangerous country where they don’t feel safe. Drugs are becoming a threat to Pakistan day by day. Drugs are destroying the youth and putting the future of Pakistan at stake. Due to weak law and order, Pakistan is not able to control drug trafficking, because of which 250 000 deaths every year. Drugs slowly addict the mind and then the body needs it regularly. These drugs are destroying our society which is a threat to our future. We have to save our country from this deadly disease from now on. Employment opportunities have to be increased otherwise our young generation will become useless. To promote a good society, we will have to support each other and those who are suffering from this disease will have to be brought back to normal condition. Every youngster is a precious asset of the country. For the better future of Pakistan, we have to protect ourselves and the people around us from diseases like drugs. If we not kept the young generation away from drugs then it clearly means that we are destroying our future with our own hands.
