Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : Commissioner Rawalpindi Division while reviewing the performance of Price Magistrates across the Division has issued show cause notices to those Magistrates whose inspections were less than 100 from March 1, 2024 till now. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to give three days’ time to all these Price Magistrates and if their performance is not improved, they will not only be surrendered but action will also be taken against them under PEDA Act. Commissioner Rawalpindi said that strict operation will be conducted against hoarders and profiteers on the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister and essential commodities will be available to the public before Ramadan at government notified rates.
Engineer Aamir Khattak directed that all Deputy Commissioners at district level and Assistant Commissioners at Tehsil level should hold a meeting urgently with wholesale dealers and retailers. They should give them 24 hours time to ensure that Ll available stock is declared. After the given period such stock which is not registered with the Deputy Commissioners will be confiscated under hoarding law. He directed that price magistrates should be active in the field and take immediate action on complaints received from consumers. He further said that the performance of price magistrates will be evaluated on a daily basis and this evaluation will not be judged on the report sent by them but through self-monitoring in the field and feedback from consumers. The commissioner warned that he will not spare if any complaint received from anywhere that the staff was doing inspections in the field instead of the Price magistrate. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioners of the five districts gave a briefing to the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division on the performance of the last five days. In the briefing by the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, it was stated that during the last twenty-four hours, there were during 2443 inspections in Rawalpindi district. A fine of 05 lakh 28 thousand was imposed and 09 arrests were made as 263 violations were reported.
Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and Price Magistrates of all the five districts of Rawalpindi Division participated in the price control held at the Commissioner’s Office Rawalpindi.
