Islamabad,  (Parliament Times) : The Federal Health Minister Dr. Nadeem Jan has implemented a comprehensive ban on sugary drinks, recognized as a significant contributor to non-communicable diseases, within the Ministry and its subordinate entities. Dr. Nadeem Jan has issued an advisory urging other ministries to follow a suit and implement bans of sugary drinks within their respective domains. This proactive measure is appreciated by Pakistan National Heart Association and other civil society organizations, recognizing it as a positive step towards reducing the prevalence of non-communicable diseases in Pakistan.
Secretary General of PANAH, Sanahullah Ghaman, conveyed during a media interaction that the commitment made by Dr. Nadeem Jan during the National Dialogue held in collaboration with PANAH three week ago has now materialized into a concrete action. Dr. Nadeem Jan, in his brief tenure, has demonstrated a dedication to public health by taking significant measures and reforms, including the prohibition of sugary drinks. PANAH and other civil society organizations extend their appreciation for his efforts in curbing NCDs, highlighting the importance of his contributions to promoting a healthier Pakistan.
