Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Laiqat Ali Chatha visited Murree district early in the morning to review the arrangements being made during ongoing rain and snowfall spell. During the visit, Laiqat Ali Chatha also inspected the Facilitation Centres set up to guide the tourists. He distributed necessary equipments to the officials on duty in those Centers including blankets, fin gas heaters, dry fruits and other essentials.
Laiqat Ali Chatha said that Punjab government is spending millions to facilitate tourists and Chief Minister Punjab and Chief Secretary Punjab are keenly observing situation in Murree. He instructed the Murree administration to be alert round the clock and said that any department’s negligence in providing facilities to tourists will not be tolerated. Our slight negligence can lead to the loss of precious human lives. Immediate FIR will be registered against departments showing laxity. He directed that no road should be blocked for more than an hour. The administration should ensure immediate action on the information of the tourist coming to Murree about the car breaking down, running out of petrol or any other issue. He said that the citizens should go to Murree after booking the hotel online for their own convenience.
While giving a briefing regarding the arrangements on this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Murree said that 13 facilitation centres have been established in Murree for tourist. These centres have personnel from all concerned agencies including traffic police, civil defense, highways. Murree witness around three feet of snow fall last night. However, all the roads in Murree have been cleared with the help of heavy machinery in the early morning. 164 police personnel are on duty here to control the traffic and 16 heavy machinery was deputed to remove the snow from the roads. Salt was sprinkled on the roads after the snow was removed. In the briefing, it was also informed that check posts have been established at the Islamabad for the entry of vehicles into Murree. Also, entry is being allowed as per the parking capacity of vehicles in Murree.
