Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times) : Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq, while terming India’s so-called democracy and secularism as the biggest fraud, has said that India was using democracy as a fig leaf to hoodwink the world.

In a statement issued on the eve of India’s Republic Day, the AJK premier said that India has become a totalitarian state where religious minorities are no longer safe. “They neither have religious freedom nor their places of worship are safe in the country that has been virtually overtaken by the extremists”, the PM said, adding that there was no place for minorities in Modi’s India.”

The demolition of the historic Babri Masjid, attack on the Golden Temple, and burning of Churches by extremists aided and abetted by the government speak volumes about the growing fascism in India”, he said, adding that these shocking incidents of violence directed against the minorities demonstrate the growing influence of rabid fanatics who believe in the Akhand Baharat policy being promoted by the BJP and other right-wing parties.” India has deprived Kashmiris of their basic political and human rights”, he said, adding that even after 76 years, India was not ready for the referendum it promised to the Kashmiri people before the world.

He said that India had unleashed a reign of terror in Kashmir. He said that black laws enforced in Occupied Kashmir have been a major cause and consequence of rights violations in the region. He said that after August 5, 2019, the occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into an open-air prison for the Kashmiri people. Terming India’s action on August 5 as a serious violation of UN resolutions, the PM said that India has grossly violated the UNSC resolutions that call for holding a plebiscite in the region. The Prime Minister also paid great tribute to Kashmiri martyrs who rekindled the torch of freedom by sacrificing their precious lives.

The PM thanked all the countries, institutions, and organizations that raised their voice for Kashmiris. He also thanked the people and government of Pakistan for their consistent support of the Kashmiris’ legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination. He said that it was high time that the world should take effective notice of the worsening political and human rights situation in the region and played its much-needed role in helping resolve the Kashmir issue in line with the UNSC resolutions that guarantee the right to self-determination of the people of Kashmir.
