Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has said that Kashmiris living on both sides of the LoC and all over the world would celebrate India’s Republic Day as a black day as a mark of protest against India’s illegal occupation of their motherland.

In his message issued on the eve of Indian Republic Day, the president, while denouncing India’s belligerent military occupation of Kashmir, said that a country that has occupied the territory of Jammu and Kashmir illegally and usurped the Kashmiris’ political and human rights in brazen violation of international law has no moral justification to celebrate the Republic day. Referring to the worsening situation in the region, he said that lawlessness and anarchy in the region have reached a climax since the Modi government stripped the region of its special status on August 5, 2019. He said that the Modi government has broken all records of barbarism and brutality in the region.

He, however, maintained that despite using all means of oppression, the Indian government has failed to break Kashmiris’ political resolve. Hailing the Kashmiris’ struggle and sacrifices, the president said that the ongoing struggle would continue till they achieve their cherished goal of freedom from India.

Terming Kashmiris’ freedom movement as a legitimate political struggle, he said that India must bear in mind the fact that it cannot subdue Kashmiris by using its military might. Referring to the Kashmiris’ unflinching faith in the freedom of their nation, he said, ” Kashmiris have never accepted India’s illegal occupation of their motherland nor have they accepted the Modi government’s attempted annexation of Kashmir on August 5, 2019″. “India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir on 27 October 1947 and the actions it has taken on and after August 5, 2019, is not acceptable to Kashmiris”, he said, adding that these actions amply demonstrate that India is a fascist country having dangerous expansionist designs.

He said that, on the occasion of India’s so-called Republic Day protest, rallies would be held in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, and the rest of the world to draw world attention to the plight of Kashmiris. Barrister Chaudhry said that India’s fascist regime and its imperialist agenda pose a serious threat to peace and security in South Asia. Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said that India, which claims to be the world’s largest democracy, has been grossly involved in the bloodbath of innocent Kashmiris who have been demanding their promised right, the right to self-determination.

Barrister Chaudhry said that it was high time that the United Nations, the international community, and human rights organizations should take effective cognizance of the illegal and immoral actions taken by India and play their due role to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir conflict peacefully in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
