FAISALABAD: A new wave of inflation now having with threatening certainty due to the hike in petrol and diesel prices, said Allama Tahirul Hasan.

In preview of details, Government of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics must improve the method of Consumer Price Index otherwise all & sundry would fall into the unreturnable way.

further warned that, we have reached this situation due to the piles collected domestically and foreign debts, heavy subsidies to government institutions, other economic wrong decisions and many problems of governance. He further illuminated that the Government of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics should improve the method of consumer price index considering the needs & necessities of people, otherwise, a new wave of inflation would take us to verge of collapse which is standing on our heads. Allama Tahir has raised the question why the IMF wants to increase the prices of petrol, gas and electricity in Pakistan ? He pointed out that the electricity, gas, etc. are expensive for the people & out of people’s reach.
whereas in Pakistan, petrol, electricity and gas rates are determined not by the IMF but by regulatory authority like Nepra and Ogra ?
Tahir further said that the prices set by these regulatory, the government is not able to reach those prices to the consumers due to its political constraints, due to which the government has to give subsidies and the government suffers losses in this regard. IMF suggested any measures to protect the people from inflation in this regard, he further expressed ? He has demanded the government to end the mega insentives from all corners to a specific group and ensure equitable distribution & justice to o the people to generate the survival phenomenon.
