Bolton UK: Bolton Mayor Councilor Muhammad Ayub said, “I am proud to be elected as the first Kashmiri Mayor of Bolton and have served the city and community since 2006 as an elected councilor. The Kashmir dispute is my own issue and I have been representing it at every important forum. Without a peaceful resolution of Kashmir, the dream of peace in South Asia cannot be fulfilled. He was interacting in a meeting with prominent Kashmiri leader and president of international think tank INSPAD, peace ambassador Dr. Sardar Muhammad Tahir Tabassum and social figure Raja Arif Jamroz, who were visiting from Pakistan at City Council Bolton here. Mayor Muhammad Ayub said that the issue of Kashmir can be solved only by the implementation of the resolutions approved by the United Nations. India and Pakistan should end the deadlock and start a dialogue on it. The right of self-determination of Kashmiris is very important for peace and development in the region. The Indian government should enact legislation to protect the rights of Muslims and minorities living in India. President of INSPAD Sardar Tahir Tabassum said that all Pakistani and Kashmiri elected representatives in UK should engage in diplomacy at all levels to resolve the Kashmir issue. He said that the issue of Kashmir is a conflict created by Britain and to solve it, Britain should take strategies and measures so that the arms race in South Asia can end, the relations between the two nuclear countries can improve and the threats of war can be transformed into peace.
