RAWALPINDI,  (Parliament Times) : Punjab Information and Culture Minister
Amir Mir laid the foundation stone of Information Complex Rawalpindi in
Shamsabad area of Rawalpindi. Provincial Housing Azfar Ali Nasir and
Provincial Education Minister Mansoor Qarder were also present with him on this
occasion. Officers and officials of the Directorate of Public Relations Rawalpindi
were also present.
Provincial Information and Culture Minister Amir Mir was given a detailed
briefing about Information Complex Rawalpindi. On the occasion, Amir Mir said
that the Information Complex Rawalpindi will be the first field office of DGPR
which will have its own state-of-the-art building and all modern media facilities
will also be provided. He said that DGPR is a source of authentic information and
its field offices are being equipped with modern facilities to further strengthen the
relationship between the people and the government. Aamir Mir said that at
present Rawalpindi Information Directorate is working as a liaison office for media
in Islamabad. Provincial Information and Culture Minister said that apart from a
spacious press conference hall, social media studio, newsroom and electronic
media monitoring system will also be provided in the Information Complex
Rawalpindi. The provincial minister suggested that the cafeteria constructed at the
Information Complex Rawalpindi should be run on the model of the cafeteria of
the National Press Club, where high quality food would be provided to government
officials and employees and journalists at discounted rates. Provincial Minister
Amir Mir was informed that the first phase of Information Complex Rawalpindi is
estimated at Rs 100 million and its construction will be done during the current
financial year. On this occasion, the officers of Directorate Public Relations
demanded from the Provincial Minister that in the next phase of this project,
residential flats for officers and personnel should also be arranged.
