A country with a population of over 220 million, is known for its rich culture, heritage and beautiful landscapes. However when it comes to education, the picture is not as rosy as one would hope. The education system of Pakistan is known for its poor quality, inadequate access and lack of resources, which makes it the worst education system in the world. There are several reasons why the education system in Pakistan is dysfunctional. Firstly, education is not a priority for the government, which has failed to allocate sufficient funds for the education sector. As a result educational institutions lack basic facilities like electricity, water and proper infrastructure. Furthermore, the quality of education is also substandard, with underqualified and underpaid teachers who lack training and resources to conduct classes effectively. This leads to poor learning outcomes and a lack of critical thinking skills in students. Morever, the education system is plagued with issues of access and equity. Millions of children in Pakistan are out of school, particularly girls in rural areas. Subsequently, the cost of education is not affordable for many families, and as a result they have to choose between sending their children to school or securing basic necessities like food and shelter. In addition, the education system is also politicized, with political interference in the appointment of teachers and administrators. This results in a lack of accountability and transparency, making it difficult for education system to function effectively. Lastly, the curriculum is outdated and lacks relevance in today’s world. Most of the subjects taught in school do not equip students with necessary skills required to succeed in today’s globalized world. In conclusion, the education system in Pakistan is in dire need of reform. The government needs to prioritize education and allocate adequate funds for it. Teachers need to be trained to deliver quality education, and infrastructure needs to be improved. Morever, access to education needs to be improved by providing free and compulsory education to all children. Above all, the education system needs to free from political interference and the curriculum must be updated to give students the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. Only then we can improve education system and build a better future for Pakistan.
