MIRPUR (AJK),  (Parliament Times)  : Adviser to ex Prime Minister of AJK Hameed Shaheen Alvi here on Thursday pleaded to the Security Council of the United Nations to hear Kashmiri representatives on Kashmir dispute as Indonesian representative was given this opportunity during Indonesian liberation struggle.

In his open remarks here in an interview to our Special AJK Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao here on Thursday, the former Adviser to AJK PM said “world wants to listen directly to the voice of the direct affectees of the Kashmir dispute”.

Shaheen said that Kashmir dispute has made 23 million people of Jammu and Kashmir are the sole loosers because of continuned state of unsettlement of UN-listed Kashmir dispute. He thanked UN Security Council for backing the political rights of the Kashmiris via its resolutions suggesting holding of an international plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir.

The veteran Kashmiri analyst stated that the Kashmiris demand for UN Security Council to listen to them directly was in accord with the precedents this body had set in the past when Indonesian representative was heard during Indonesian freedom movement.

“Kashmiri political rights are sacrsanct for them as their status to chose their future destiny has been recognized by the UN Security Council via its Kashmir resolutions of August 13, 1948 and of Jan five 1949”, he underlined.

Elaborating, the world~fame Kashmiri writer and historian Hameed Shaheen Alvi strongly suggested to all concerned quarters to facilitate any nominated Kashmiri representative to speak to the United Nations Security Council members’ conclave following a similar example when Indonesian rep was given the opportunity to address UNSC during Indonesian freedom movement; Kashmiri dispute exposition in the voice of direct affectees Kashmiris shall have unique impact worldwide, he suggested in his open remarks Wednesday here;

His version: Kashmir & Palestine disputes: What is common assisting factor with these two issues? UNO supports political rights of both Kashmiris and Palestinians by UN Security Councils’s relevant resolutions; both Kashmiris and Palestinians are fortunate to have world support; what is lacking is that no mechanism has been garnered by both via world community to get implemented UNSC rulings; both are instead projecting these disputes as if they are fresh ones;

Both the Kashmiris and the Palestinians and their advocates must concentrate on how to muster international persuading support for materialization of UNSC verdicts in both the cases; this is the reason that I have been suggesting that politically well aware Kashmiris must form a Jammu and Kashmir Plebiscite Movement; their advocating country/countries should help them raise their plebiscite voice at the international fora; both the direct respresentatives of Kashmiris and Palestinians must be helped to address directly UN annual sessions and UNSC meetings; during the Indonesian freedom movement the UN had afforded this direct hearing opportunity to the Indonesian rep to address its session; exactly in accord with this precedent both Kashmiri and Palestinian reps can be helped to address UNSC meetings; Palestinians have their access but Kashmiris have not been provided with this helping opportunity.

Mere appeals and issuing cooked statements won’t work to get UN rulings carried to implementation as per meanings of UNSC Kashmir dispute rulings, he underlined.
