Islamabad,  Parliament Times)  : Chairman JKSM remembers martyrs of Sopore massacre, pays glorious tributes.

Chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Altaf Ahmed Bhat while remembering the Martyrs of Sopore Massacre of 6th January 1993 said that 30 years passed but still the victims of the worst kind of state terrorism are waiting for justice, which is being denied by the biased legal system supported by an aggressive and fascist indian government.

On 6th of January 1993, the Indian Occupation forces carried out Sopore Massacre, killing innocent civilians, setting shops and colleges on fire, just to punish and break the will of the people of Kashmir.

According to International print and electronic media, more than 75 lives, hundreds of shops and residential houses were burnt, is glaring example of a planned genocide by Indian occupational forces.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personals killed 75 civilians and burnt around 120 houses and 350 shops, including Women’s Degree College and famous Samad talkies, were gutted in the firestorm.

Chairman JKSM Altaf Ahmed Bhat added that the massacre is seen as one of the worst massacres Indian forces carried out in Jammu & Kashmir’s history.

The ‘TIME MAGAZINE’ had titled the news report on January 18, 1993 as “Blood Tide Rising”.

He added that ,The horros of Sopore Massacre are still haunting the people.

Despite the thousands of lives lost for freedom, we will never stop the struggle of freedom for our motherland, the Kashmir freedom movement is very much alive. added Chairman JKSM.

Bhat lamented that target killing of youth in fake CASO’s, razing houses to grounds and destroying whole residential areas with demolitions became a routine for Indian occupation forces.

Chairman JKSM further added that we have appealed to the Secretary General of United Nations, Human Rights council, Amnesty International to take concrete steps and hold India accountable for the grave Human Rights Violations India is committing against Humanity in Kashmir, but to no avail. The world is turning a blind eye in case of Kashmir. While India has already started demographic changes in IIOJ&K by defying all international laws and conventions.
