In a country ,with economy in the doldrums and consecutively increasing fiscal deficits and circular debt__the military steering off the political landscape towards the dictatorial regimes is not only shameful but also condemnable as well.With our former COAS’s official and on camera confession that military had been intervening in the political affairs of the country ,all the accusations so far made by the political parties against the military intervention in politics have got some solid foundations. Nowhere are the ramifications of this announcement more evident than in the IK’s confidence these days.A diaspora of opinion spread among the masses through different social media platforms and parties regarding this statement. Some warmly welcomed it as finally the peaceful exit of military from politics while others used it as the authentification of their ideals which they are preaching since their ouster.From the criticism,the military is facing since Imran Khan’s ouster, it seems those in the higher security head offices have somewhat realized by the times that retrieving the credibility and reputation of the institution itself more important than sustaining its monopoly on all other civilian institutions combined together.And consequently ,the statement came in the light of above mentioned circumstances.To what extent it will be ensured in turn depends upon the inter and intra political parties’ concenus. The historical record of military intervention in Pakistan’s politics is indicative of the fact that every single time military crossed the legal and constitutional framework of the country and interfered in the affairs of parliament,there were disputes or disagreements going on in between the political parties . So military played the role of a negotiator among the political parties in the pursuit of getting country out of economic downturn ,easing the peace and security situation or stabilizing the country. So, for the ensurance of implementation of core democratic norms in our society and avoiding the politicisation of military,the concenus among the political parties is the dire need of time in order to provide no space to military to plung into the political arena .
