KARACHI, (Parliament Times) : The Sindh Committee of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has reiterated its long-standing demand while expressing deep concern over the non-transparent and unfair distribution of advertisements and delay in payments by the Sindh government. Advertise distribution and payment details on its official website on a daily basis.

This demand was made in a resolution passed in the Sindh Committee meeting of CPNE held yesterday under the chairmanship of Chairman Hamid Hussain Abidi. The resolution said that due to the unfair distribution of official advertisements of Sindh for a long time, real newspapers and journals should be evaluated. Because of this, the jobs of hundreds of journalists associated with the print media are under threat.
On the other hand, newspaper organizations are suffering from severe financial crisis due to the inflation of expensive newsprint and other materials. The resolution expressed the hope that the new Information Secretary of the Government of Sindh Mr. Imran Atta Soomro will remedy this situation. The resolution further stated that the Sindh government needs to take effective measures for all newspaper organizations and journals including small/local newspapers after the 18th amendment as the clear right of distribution of advertisements to the print media is being lost.
In the meeting, the government of Sindh was urged to balance the volume of advertisements in print, electronic and digital media. It was demanded in the meeting that the provincial government should take immediate steps regarding the problems faced in unfair distribution of government advertisements and payments.
