Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times) : Chief Election Commissioner Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice retired Abdul Rasheed Salharia said.
The local elections in Kashmir will be held on as per the schedule, the government of Azad Kashmir has provided the required 100% funds for the local elections and till now 28 crores have been spent. The people and politicians of Azad Kashmir should actively participate in this national duty and support us in completing the process of municipal elections. There are still more than ten days left for the elections and in view of the severe weather conditions, polling will be decided in areas with heavy snowfall. Election Commission has completed all the arrangements for the local elections. People should prepare for the local elections.
He expressed these views while giving a media briefing in his office along with senior member Election Commission Raja Muhammad Farooq Niaz. In this regard, the government has also given full assurance of providing security forces. He said that I myself have spoken to Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in this regard and he is ready to provide security. On this occasion, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. During the municipal elections, 29 lakh 50 thousand 129 voters of Azad Kashmir will exercise their right to vote. During the municipal elections, 10556 candidates are competing while 42 candidates have been elected unopposed. Voter lists and constituencies have already been completed in Azad Kashmir. He said that the Election Commission is determined to hold local body elections in Azad Kashmir after three and a half months. All citizens should exercise their right to vote without fear.
And don’t pay attention to those who spread negative propaganda. He said that the Election Commission is determined and optimistic to conduct local body elections in any case.
