Karachi: The increasing incidence of osteoporotic fractures and a lack of awareness of the disease in the community continue to increase the burden on the population. According to an estimate, more or less 8 million bone fractures occur worldwide every year due to osteoporosis. These views were expressed by Professor Dr. Rubina Tahir in a seminar on the occasion of “World Osteoporosis Day” organized by the Department of Pharmacy at Iqra University North Campus.

He said that the main objectives of this session were the achievement of SDG 3 and SDG 17 for good health and well-being. The event raised awareness about the risks and consequences of osteoporosis. Dr. Rubina Tahir is a reproductive health expert and the pioneer of saline infusion sonography in Pakistan. Dr. Tabinda Ashfaq, Dr. Muhammad Imran, and others were also present on this occasion. Abia Iqbal performed administrative duties.
