Although, social media is a blessing in disguise in the age of darkness, yet it is a source of anxiety too. The unauthenticated facts, immature opinions and fake news by the masses add more difficulties to the life of already suppressed ones. The recent spell over the rains in Sindh, South Punjab and Balochistan respectively diagnose the repercussions of the social media. Nowadays, the public use social media; Facebook, WhatsApp and instagram etc. The sharing of unauthenticated pictures and unchecked news spread anxiety among the masses. It increases the problem in the life of Common Man. The most disturbing time was the forecasting by anyone regarding the rains. However, this is the prime duty of technocrats whose expertise is in meteorological sciences etc. Everyone on social media was predicting the weather and all those forecasts by the common man were more lethal and dangerous than a real one.Every post I observed was full of fear and anxiety. There was not any ray of hope. However, the realities were the opposite one. After the rains the water was crossing from its respective routes to Arabian Sea. So, Continuously, fabricated digits of water were being shared on social media. The digits were fabricated. So, fake pictures, fake news, and unchecked information spread like wildfire.Resultantly, the mental health of the masses was disturbed very severely. Everywhere, they found disappointment. The left-over hope was being snatched by social media. Instead of promoting hope and guidelines to the affected ones the so-called social media experts have been using social media very badly. They have opinions for economy, climate, democracy and so on without knowing the ABC of these respective terms. The government must regulate social media in order to control the disinformation which affects the common man in our country. No solid proof, unchecked facts, and baseless opinion not only add fuel to the fire but also snatch the hopes from the people. Our youth and our social media users must pay heed to the rumors and without confirming the actual sources should not share furthermore. So, nowadays the improper use of social media is being increased instead of promoting hope and sharing of the UpToDate and required information to the users.
