Muzaffarabad/MIRPUR ( AJK ),  (Parliament Times) : Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has said that government was trying its level best to provide basic health care facilities and other essential service to the people of Azad Kashmir.

The PM said this while addressing a special ceremony organized by Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the PM said that doctors enjoy a status of a Messiah in every society but a true Messiah was the one who has a spirit and passion for serving humanity. Highlighting the importance of doctors in the society, he said, “Saving human life is the greatest job in the world”. He said that the government was paying special attention to improve healthcare services in the state. He said that there was also a dire need to improve the quality of education in medical colleges. Besides imparting technical education, he said that character building and training of medical students was imperative so that they could be able to perform their duties in a proficient manner.

Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan further said that doctors should prioritize humanity in their work and treat patients with the spirit of service. He said that the government would provide funds to set up laboratories for research in the college.Terming women doctors as an inseparable part of the society, the PM noted that despite difficulties women have proved their mettle in every field of life. He directed the women doctors to choose cardiology as a speciality so that women patients would feel comfortable during the treatment.

He said that the government would solve all the problems being faced by the medical college.Addressing the event, Minister for Health Dr. Nisar Ansar Abdali said that the health care system would be strengthened in Azad Kashmir. “We are facing numerous challenges in the health sector but today we can say that we have improved the system to a great extent. He said that the Health University would be inaugurated soon.

Addressing the event, Country Director World Health Organization Dr. Pletha Mahipala said that WHO was ready to provide health facilities to the people of Azad Kashmir. He appreciated the opening of a telemedicine center in Azad Kashmir Medical College.Addressing the ceremony, Principal Prof. Mulazim Hussain Bukhari thanked all the guests for attending the symposium. Prof. Bukhari also presented a memorable shield to the prime minister.

Earlier, the Prime Minister inaugurated the blood laboratory established in the medical college and also inspected other departments.Others who were present on the occasion included Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, Chaudhry Azhar, Sardar Faheem Rabbani, Chaudhry Muhammad Rashid, faculty members, civil and several others.
