MUZAFFARABAD: Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) has distributed rations, blankets, house hold goods among people who had affected in rain floods at interior Sindh districts, Dado, Nodero, Rato Dhero and Khairpur as well as medical camps were established and free medicines were distributed too. Chairman KORT Chaudhary Muhammad Akhtar while talking to media on Monday said that he and KORT’s team along are being visited rain flood affected areas of Balochistan, Punjab and Sindh and a comprehensive plan have been made to help affectees in the area. “Rations, blankets and other house hold goods were distributed among affectees under KORT”, he said and added that such measures would be maintained for ensuring assistance of poor people on humanity basis.
He further said that the recent rains and floods have caused havoc in the country, which left millions of people homeless and forced thousands of families to migrate from their ancestral villages, the flood affected families urgently need food, shelter and medicine he said.
Akhtar further added that for the flood victims of Sindh, dry ration will be provided to thousands of families, as well as free medical assistance would also be provided in camps established by KORT.
He revealed that free medical camps in the most-affected districts of the province have been established yet in which treatments to injured and ailing people affected by heavy rains and deadly flooding have been provided. So far, more than 10,000 patients from flood-affected families have been examined and free medicines provided to them, he added.
Country Director KORT Sardar Sajid while talking to media said that “the current situation is worst, more disturbing and has vast impact than the previous natural disasters like earthquake in 2005 and floods in 2010 and 2012,” adding that volunteers and doctors from KORT were trying to protect the victims from infectious diseases and providing them free treatment.
He said that the rehabilitation work of the victims of the said districts will be completed soon by KORT.
