Islamabad,  (Parliament Times) :Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has expressed his grief and sorrow over the loss of life and property caused by incessant rain and flash floods that hit many parts of the country.

Expressing solidarity with the victims, the PM in a statement issued here on Friday said that victims would not be left alone in this hour of difficulty. He said that the provincial governments of PTI were taking all possible measures to provide instant relief to the victims. “No effort will be spared in the rehabilitation of the flood affected people”, he said.

The Prime Minister appreciated State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and administration for issuing timely alerts and efforts to minimize losses in Azad Kashmir.He directed the region’s Highways Department to stay alert to ensure free flow of traffic on all main and link roads in Azad Kashmir.

Besides climate change and deforestation, the PM pointed out that obstructing flow of water through natural channels by erecting irregular and illegal structures near rivers and canals often lead to flooding.

Expressing sympathy with flood affectees, the PM said that Azad Kashmir government was also contributing to the relief of the victims. “Dozens of NGOs from Azad Kashmir are currently participating in relief operations in flood-affected areas”, the PM said.Pertinently, torrential rains have caused large-scale destruction all across Pakistan including Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and KPK. Hundreds of people have died and property, infrastructure, livestock worth billions of rupees have been damaged.

And a large number of people have been displaced.
