MIRPUR (AJK), ( Parliament Times):  State-run Bank of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, continued its journey of speedy progress, as the bank  opened its 02 new branches in Mangla Hamlet and Kotli Road in lake city of Mirpur  by making them fully operational here on Thursday.

 The bank’s 79th branch was inaugurated at Kotli Road, Mirpur by Mr. Khan Abdul Majid Khan, Minister of Finance, Cooperatives, Inland Revenue and Chairman Bank of AJK while as the 80th branch in Mangla Hamlet was inaugurated by State Finance Minister along with Chaudhry Arshad Hussain, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Development Authority Mirpur, the BOAJK sources said here Thursday.

 A large number of people from different walks of life including businessmen were present on this occasion.The Government Ministers while interacting said that the Government is taking all necessary steps to make it among one of the leading banks. After opening 2 new branches in Mirpur city, the total number of branches of the bank has increased to 80.

The opening of new branches will benefit the large population of Mirpur and provide banking facilities to the esteemed customers at their doorstep. It is pertinent to mention here that the BAJK has been making historic profits by showing excellent performance.There has been a significant increase in other sectors including deposits, assets and remittances. While more areas of the state have joined the network of Bank. Due to trust in the bank, the people of these areas, including prominent businessmen, opened their accounts in large numbers in the new branches and vowed to contribute to the success of the bank.The bank will open new branches in many more areas so that the customers of these areas can also be provided with banking facilities at their doorsteps

Khawar Saeed, President/CEO on the occasion said that the branch network of the bank is expanding while banking facilities to the customers in the remote areas of the state and employment opportunities to the educated youth were also being provided. On opening of new branches, the business community of these areas, employees and customers from all walks of life are interested in promoting their business with the only state-owned bank.
