Mirpur (AJK ),   (Parliament Times) : Hailing the people of Mirpur for their significant contribution in the construction of Mangla Dam, Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has said that the people of the city have rendered great sacrifices for the prosperity and economic development of Pakistan.

Speaking at the foundation-stone laying ceremony of Mirpur Dry Port, the PM said that he was pleased to see the long-pending demand of establishing dry port in the city was finally fulfilled. He said that the dry port was a dream of the people of Mirpur, which has been fulfilled today.

He said that the establishment of the dry port would not only boost trade within the region but it will also open up new vistas of economic and employment opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. The PM said that an international airport would be built in the city whereas a rail track would be built to link the dry port to Deena Railway Line. He said that the first ever AJK based private sector firm has also got Airline license.

“Azad Jammu and Kashmir Bank will soon get a scheduled bank status”, he said, adding that the PTI government believed in practical work rather than imaginations.

Hailing the AJK president’s political acumen, the PM said, “Under his patronage and guidance, Azad Kashmir will be transformed into an ideal state in terms of construction and development”.

He said that the area of industrial estate in Mirpur and Bhimber would be increased to turn the twin districts into an economic zone in true sense in which investors from foreign countries will set up large industries.

In order to boost trade and commerce, the PM said, an international airport would be built in the city through public-private partnership. He said that construction of international airports in Sialkot and Multan have brought economic revolution in those areas.

“Construction of Sialkot Islamabad Motorway and Mansehra Muzaffarabad Mirpur Road will also give a great boost to industrial and economic activities”, the PM said.

“Domestic and foreign trade will be easy and Azad Kashmir’s national exchequer will earn billions of rupees annually”, he said. He said that government was planning to revive sick industrial units. “There are a few fan factories in Gujarat which generate a business of four and a half million dollars, while there are hundreds of other small industries where small parts are made”, he said.
