Ruinous floods have left a trail of destruction in one of the most vulnerable and impoverished areas of Baluchistan running human lives and properties. Thousands of houses are destroyed as people scramble to save what is left. Torrential rains and flash floods in the few weeks have killed many people and displaced thousands. In the havoc, and heavy rains created in Baluchistan provincial authorities have imposed section 144 in the province. Meanwhile, the road link between Baluchistan with Sindh was completely cut off after a bridge and road connecting the two provinces were damaged Lasbela and Khuzdar. Traffic on the Quetta-Karachi highway was still suspended due to collapsing of major bridges and the sweeping away of big portions of the highway. The largest province of Pakistan in terms of land is Baluchistan. Still, thousands of people are homeless, hundreds of people lost their loved ones, infrastructures are damaged, and education is affected. Still, the government is showing insincerity towards the people of Baluchistan. Even the electronic media was busy discussing the never-ending political circus. It failed to raise the issue on time so that lives could have been saved. It is much shameful that rather than providing help to flood-affected people, the political parties of Baluchistan are busy with participatory programs. The government should consider installing proper sanitation systems in the urban areas and developing all-time weather-friendly infrastructures across Baluchistan. It must take steps to provide relief in terms of food and shelter and financial assistance to all affected. The government of Baluchistan and the Government of Pakistan should sleep over it.
