Says effective use of digital media platforms can be instrumental in highlighting Kashmir cause,

Muzaffarabad,  (Parliament Times) :  President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry while highlighting importance of social and digital media has said that effective use of social media platforms could play a great role in highlighting Kashmir issue internationally.

The AJK president expressed these views during his visit to the newly constructed PID complex here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Barrister Chaudhry said that in this era of globalization effective use of digital media can be instrumental in highlighting Kashmir cause at international level. He said that all steps would be taken to highlight the Freedom Movement of Kashmir.

Stressing the need for effective exploitation of digital media and communication tools, he said that after electronic and print media, social and digital media has revolutionized the entire world.While interacting with officers, the president appreciated their dutifulness and professionalism. The Information Department, he said, was moving in the right direction under under the leadership of Special Assistant Chaudhry Mohammad Rafiq Nair, Secretary Information Midhat Shahzad and Director General Information Raja Azhar Iqbal.

“Strengthening this important department (PID) will not only be helpful to improve the publicity of the Government of Azad Kashmir but also present the issue of Kashmir in the best way in the international forums”, the president said.“Government has provided ample funds for the development of media in the current financial year”, he said, adding that the government would utilize its all-available resources to strengthen media in the state. The president said that Azad Kashmir has massive tourism potential. Promotion of tourism in the state, he said, was among the top priorities of the present government. On this occasion, Special Assistant for Information Chaudhry Muhammad Rafiq Nayar thanked the President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry for his visit to the PID Complex and paid tribute to him for his services regarding the Kashmir issue.

Director General Information Raja Azhar Iqbal also presented a copy of magazine “Jahan Nu” to the President. Jahan Nu Magazine is published by the Department of Information Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, on his arrival at the PID complex, the president was accorded warm welcome by Special Assistant on Information Chaudhry Muhammad Rafiq Nayar, Secretary Information Ms. Midhat Shehzad, Director General Information Raja Azhar Iqbal, Director Information Muhammad Bashir Mirza and the officers of the Information Department.

On this occasion, the DGPR Raja Azhar Iqbal gave a detailed briefing to the President and introduced him to officers and other staff members. The president also inspected different sections of the PID Complex including the Central Newsroom, Digital and Social Media Section, Web TV Studio, Electronic Media, Advertising Section and Declaration Section.

Information officer Ms Qurat-ul-Ain Shabir, Raja Muhammad Sohail Khan and Raja Abdul Basit also gave a detailed briefing to the visiting delegation with reference to their respective departments.
