ISLAMABAD,   (Parliament Times) : The Kashmir issue is on the agenda of the United Nations and the United Nations should implement its resolutions and give Kashmiris an opportunity to decide their future through plebiscite. The decision to join Pakistan on July 19, 1947 is a sign of confidence and belief that Kashmiris want to link their future with Pakistan. Kashmiris are fulfilling their commitment and are continuously making sacrifices, but the governments in Pakistan have never taken a uniform stand on Kashmir, which has hurt the Kashmir movement. These views were expressed by Sardar Hassan Ibrahim Khan, president Jammu Kashmir People’s Party and member of AJK assembly, in his speech at the ceremony organized by Jammu Kashmir People’s Party regarding the resolution of accession to Pakistan. He said that we are Pakistani by conviction and there is no need to take a certificate from anyone. We will not compromise on the identity of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. All efforts to make Gilgit-Baltistan a province will be resisted. Gilgit-Baltistan is a part of larger state of Kashmir and any attempt to tamper with it will hurt the international personality of the Kashmir conflict. He said that statehood should be restored in Gilgit-Baltistan immediately so that India can be forced to reverse the actions of August 2019. He said that one of the reasons for the lack of progress on Kashmir till date is the lack of unity and agreement among the Kashmiri leaders. The entire leadership and political parties of Kashmir need to come together on one point of the right to self-determination and formulate a policy and provide an opportunity to the Kashmiris to present their case to the whole world. Chairman Media Development Umair Pervez Khan, performed the duty as stage secretary while the speakers included Secretary General of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Party Sheikh Javed Iftar, Chief Organizer Taslim Baghi, Central Information Secretary Khawaja Sajjad Ahmed Advocate, Ms. Nasreen Gurdezi President Women’s wing, Sardar Khurshid, Aitzaz Imtiaz, Mahmood Sabir District President Poonch, Waheed Akram, Sardar Saeed Khan and others.
