Ex AJK CJ Justice (Retd) Azam Khan launched The new arrival,

MIRPUR (AJK),  (Parliament Times) :  ‘Hematology And Transfusion Medicine’ – a marvelous piece of latest studies in medical sciences related to the laboratory techniques – harmonious to the need of the modern age, in form of book, was launched here on Sunday in a grand ceremony hosted by Prof. Dr. Zahida Qasim, Head of Pathology Department in Mirpur Div. Teaching Hospital.

Our Special AJK Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports from the lake city of MIRPUR that former Chief Justice of Azad Jammu Kashmir Justice (Retd) Muhammad Azam Khan was the Chief guest on this occasion with Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chauhan, DIG Police Mirpur Division, who graced the ceremony as guest of honor – attended by larger number of male and female doctors besides the students of local and other medical colleges of Azad Jammu Kashmir, senior serving and retired civil and military officials, including Shoukat Majeed Mallick, Retired Secretary Information, Sports, Culture and Information Technology of AJK Government, senior Kashmiri journalist Altaf Hamid Rao and the academia from .

‘Lab. Techniques In Hematology And Transfusion Medicine’, is the collective outburst of high intellect and pen also containing their vast experience and studies in the field of pathology by the specialists including Prof. Dr. Usman Waheed (PhD), Prof. Dr. Zahida Qasim (MBBS, DCP, MPhil), Dr. Noor e Saba (MBBS, MPH, M. Phil) and Dr. Akhlaaq Wazeer (MPhhil).

Speakers including the Chief guest Justice (Retd) Muhammad Azam Khan, DIG Police Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chauhan, Dr. Zahid Qasim, Dr. Usman Waheed, Medical Superintendent Mirpur Div. HQ Hospital Dr. Sardar Aamer Aziz, Dr. Tariq Mughal and others said that in this fast emerging era of information technology and swift means of communications and knowledge, the significance of book could not be ignored at any stage.

Commenting and lauding the new arrival, speakers described ‘ Hematology And Transfusion Medicine’ as marvelous piece of knowledge and studies for the medical students of all departments of this vast field which directly involve the health for rehabilitation of the ailing humanity.

Addressing the ceremony the chief guest Justice (Retd) Muhammad Azam Khan emphasized the need of ensuring the availability of the books of various professional studies including those related to the medical education to the students at maximum possible inexpensive prices. He lauded the authors of their endeavor producing the book on laboratory techniques in Hematology And Transfusion Medicine – for the MBBS students and the doctors – related to the pathology.

Justice (Retd) Azam Khan particularly appreciated one of the main authors of the book – Prof. Dr. Zahida Qasim Khan, Head of Pathology of Mirpur Div. HQ Hospital, belonging to highly educated family of Azad Jammu Kashmir as being the daughter in law of (Late) Justice (Retd) Abdul Majeed Mallick, an illustrious legal expert, Kashmiri politician and life-time vibrant leader of the Kashmir freedom struggle. He added that meritorious services of the departed Kashmiri leader Justice Mallick, Retired Chief Justice of AJK High Court and his family in various fields including civil services, legal and medicine would always be remembered and be the beacon light for the generations coming in.

Speaking on this occasion, Deputy Inspector General of Police – AJK, Mirpur Division, Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chauhan while lauding the launching of this book of medical field of its own kind, emphasized the need of dissemination of knowledge in all professional fields in our country to enter the ranks of the developed nations.

Dr. Khalid, PhD in Gender and Development Studies, advised the PhD students that they shall have to determine boundaries for research in their respective professional fields of choice – since there were boundaries in research, he underlined.

The chief host Prof. Dr. Zahida Qasim Shoukat Majeed while addressing the ceremony disclosed that there were only two officially registered blood Banks in Mirpur district including one each running by the Mirpur Div. Teaching Hospital and the private-sector Muhi-ud-din Medical College Mirpur at present. Dr. Qasim made it clear that except the above two registered blood banks, there were no any registered blood bank in any part of Mirpur district.

Dr. Zahid Qasim was awarded life-time achievement award in the field of Hematology And Transfusion Medicine on this occasion in acknowledgement of her outstanding services for rehabilitation of the sick humanity.

Retired Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of AJK Justice Muhammad Azam Khan and DIG Police Dr. Khalid Chouhan were also awarded shields of honor in acknowledgement of their meritorious services in the judiciary and policing respectively – ensuring the delivery of speedy and expensive justice and the safety and security of the masses besides and maintaining law and order in the State.
