LAHORE: Provincial minister Khawaja Salman Rafique attended “Nurses Day” seminar as a chief guest at King Edward Medical University. VC KEMU Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal and faculty members welcomed Khawaja Salman Rafique. He visited the mosque built for ladies. VC Prof. Dr. Ijaz Hussain, DG nursing, additional secretary nursing Dr. Qurat ul Ain, Registrar Dr. Riyasat Ali, Prof. Bilqees Shabbir, Prof. Saira Afzal, Prof. Saqib Saeed, MS Mayo Hospital Dr. Muneer Ahmed Malik, Prof. Abrar Ashraf and other facult members were there. A large crowd of nurses was also present. Seminar was started with Tilawat and Naat Paak. Provincial minister Khawaja Salman Rafique distributed shields among nurses. VC, additional secretary and DG nursing addressed attendees of seminar. Khawaja Salman Rafique said, “Today is a day of paying a tribute to nurses doing work in government hospitals. We also pay tribute to doctors, nurses and para medic staff who lost their lives during COVID-19. As per instructions of respected Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz, we are serving the nation. KEMU is recognised all over the world and appreciate VC Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal. Ex minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid also did work for betterment of nurses. Results of good policies effect people as well. Civilized societies can’t progress on hate. Tele medicine is working quite well in KEMU. Better health facilities will be provided in government hospitals. Quality of nursing colleges will be made better. We have talked with trainers of Agha Khan university for the training of nurses. We should respect all nurses. Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz is working hard for the health section. Punjab government will bring people friendly budget. We should facilitate people living below poverty line. Health department is working hard for nurses. Ex VC Nishtar Medical University Late Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kamal lost his life during duty and we tribute him for that. VC KEMU said, “We thank Khawaja Salman Rafique on coming here. Affiliated government hospitals with KEMU are performing well. Nurses played vital role during COVID. PhD nursing will start soon in KEMU while post graduate nursing college. Additional Secretary nursing Dr. Qurat ul Ain said, “Nursing department is bringing positive policies. We have requested to up the budget as well. DG nursing said, “we thank Khawaja Salman Rafique. Department has solved our problems on priority basis.”
