MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times) : In quick compliance upon the April 16th orders of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu Kashmir the President of Azad Jammu Kashmir State Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has summoned Azad Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly to meet in Muzaffarabad on April 18 – Monday at 10.30 a.m to proceed the process of election to the new leader of the house / the new Prime Minister of Azad government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir, according to an official AJK Government statement issued Saturday evening.
The house will exercise the process of election to the new leader of the house / the new Prime Minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir – following the resignation from the office by the incumbent AJK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi on April 14.
Niazi is currently serving as acting Prime Minister of the AJK Government till the election to the new Prime Minister of the State government.
Speaker Ch. Anwar ul Haq will chair the session.
The AJK’S Ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Supremo and ex Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has nominated Sardar Tanveer Illayas, Member of the Legislative Assembly from Poonch Division, as candidate of the party for the top slot of the Chief Executive of the AJK State government.
At the same time, two major opposition parties in the house including PPP AJK and PML (N) AJK have not yet nominated their much expected joint candidate to contest the election to the new leader of the house.
The top central leadership of both of the parties (PPP and PML – N) is likely to announce their joint nominee for the top slot of the State government by late Sunday – April 17.
