Over the course of time, as an acute shortage of water is skyrocketing in Pakistan by the minute. The water crisis in Pakistan is not merely for months or years, but it is for decades. It has been ensuing owing to the dearth of proper management of water. A few weeks ago, Pakistan was ranked 36th on the list of water-stressed countries, but now it seems on 7th. For the past couple of days, news reporters have been reflecting on a severe shortage of water. It indicates a ray of drought which can be a cause of ruination and adversity for the country. Because Pakistan is an agricultural country, owing to, its total dependence on water, and scarcity of water brings fear and catastrophe for the country and its economy. As reported by officials, water furnishes in the last 10 days have been in the last 5 years. We have just two largest dams, Tarbela and Mangla Dam, and the water level of these has become at the dead level. Tarbela came dawn at no capacity of water in February. While, Mangla Dam has reached less than 1pc. The Kotri and Sukkur barrages, whose areas are dependent on the Tarbela Dam, have also reported more than a 40pc reduction in the volume of irrigation water. This is an unprecedented famine of water. If we have a glimpse of the engenders of this famine, it utters that this is whole ensued owing to the unpredictable weather and the dearth of management. It does not bode well, especially in the mid of the country’s political and other crises, on another side, the masses have been overwhelmed by inflation as well. Are these maledictions not ample to keep the masses under persecution? Nevertheless, another curse is emerging to rub a pinch of salt in people’s wounds to soar the miseries. Why are these crises not making up the country? If this goes on rampantly, might this state become a hell for the poor. So, the regime and officials should not take it trifling, but they must put their all and best efforts into the reduction of this damn crisis to save the country from other crises because this is the only calamity that can open the way for energy and economic crisis.
